We strongly recommend taking out pet insurance for all your pets.
You will receive full reimbursement minus your chosen excess/exclusions for the
non-routine veterinary services provided by us in your home as our charges are
comparable to those of an average veterinary practice in our core area of
Brighton/Hove.
At the moment the vast competition on the
pet insurance market makes it very affordable to insure your pet with an average
monthly premium of £5-15 depending on the species, age and health of your pet.
Vets2home cannot endorse or recommend any
specific companies, but we would like to assist with some useful advice on how
to pick the correct cover to suit your requirements when shopping around in the
vast pet insurance "jungle".
- Check how long the insurance covers your pet- is it life long or stops
after a certain age?
- Does it cover a specific condition- once diagnosed- lifelong or only the
first year or up to a certain amount (consider a life long diagnosis like
diabetes, hyperthyroidism, Cushing, skin diseases etc)?
- Does the insurance premiums rise significantly after a certain age -if
so be prepared for this!
- What are the requirements for preventative treatment (like vaccinations,
worming, flea treatment etc) before a possible claim?
- Are the claim procedures easy and straight forward?
- Make sure you choose a company that only offer insurance to small
animals/pets not horses/live stock etc.
- Is the renewal procedure automatic and simple with no hidden "catches"?
- Does the prospect insurance company have a useful helpline/customer
services for claims etc?
If you have the above check list in mind,
we are sure you will find a suitable insurance to cover your pets when they
most need it and you least expect it! We know from experience in our field that
insured pets receive far better treatment and have far better options for
lifesaving procedures- without having to "settle" for less due to the cost
involved.
Most pet owners in the UK are
(fortunately) accustomed to the cost-free NHS service, which leaves them
oblivious to the actual cost of providing general health care- not to mention
the price of private health care standards- which in essence is what UK
Veterinary Practices provide to pets. (We have had many clients wanting to sign
themselves up immediately to us to receive the high quality of care we kindly
and readily offer to our furry patients!).
To save yourself from the unpleasant
surprise of the possible detrimental expenses connected with obtaining even
just the basic life saving treatment/surgery your pet needs in an emergency -
please spend a little time on the web and find a suitable pet insurance for
your special furry family member.
When
you think of it- doesn't your pet deserve only the best veterinary attention in
case of an emergency- as well as before and after- without having to add to the
worries by having a limited budget!?
Good
luck in finding your pet suitable private health care insurance- isn't it
better to have it and not need it- than the other way around?
