HOME VISITS - WHAT WE DO BEST
A thorough physical
examination with lots of time for a full history - and in the comfort of your
own home - is the single most important procedure your experienced and caring
veterinary surgeon can perform.
We always attempt to perform
this at the time of the visit, no matter the reason of the consultation;
whether routine or more urgent. This examination together with a full health
history of your pet is the two main reasons why our average consultation time
is 20-30 minutes - or more if need be.
It is through the physical
examination and history that a majority of diseases may be detected, often in
the early stages. Our aim is to promote the practice of preventative medicine.
This is the key to good health, longevity as well as improved quality of a
hopefully long happy life - and this will benefit both you and your pet,
especially when your pet becomes a senior. We believe that a thorough physical
exam is instrumental in the practice of high quality preventative veterinary
medicine.
Equally important is it that
both a routine consultation at the time of for an example a booster vaccination
or an emergency consultation for your ill pet when he or she is feeling low or
injured, includes a full physical examination and complete history. And all
this is conducted in the comfort of your own home without having to add to the
worries by moving or transporting your pet to a hospital or to a practice - or
even having to clean the car afterwards for various unpleasant proofs of high
stress and/or travel sickness of your pet.
We believe that by evaluating
your pet in his/her natural environment at home, it is possible to obtain
a more accurate diagnosis of existing or potential diseases - at least
initially - and sometimes makes it easier to address and offer customized,
tailored solutions to your concerns in your pet's own home.

We do think sometimes merely
the intense stress and the potential physiological side-effects of travelling to
the vets in cases of dealing with a very nervous, extra delicate, ill or just
frail elderly pet having to make a worrisome journey, could negatively add to
some pets' health issues. In these cases this risk could be reduced
significantly by using a home visiting vet service.
This is why we think every such
special pet (or pet owner even) deserves to have a consultation with a
qualified and experienced veterinary surgeon in their normal safe and
un-stressful surroundings - at least initially.
If we find reason for further
in-depth investigations, surgery or work-ups, we are more than happy to refer
to a suitable referral practice to match your requests for either specialist
knowledge or a second opinion. We collaborate with many local practices for
this but we ourselves do not necessarily believe in extensive and/or expensive
investigations at any price at any time - especially when it is your pet!
We believe in going that extra
mile (excuse the pun) to find EXACTLY the solution that meets yours and your
pet's special need - and certainly not the vet's need.

For all these reasons, we in
VETS2HOME have "moved the veterinary consulting room" into
your living room (or kitchen or lounge or garden) - where ever your pet feels
most comfortable and relaxed.
